CURRICULUM
Examples of our daily camp life
HORSEBACK RIDING

Every kid, whether or not he or she has ever been on a horse, will have several days of riding the vast network of trails surrounding the Bit-O-Wyo Ranch.

Experienced wranglers teach the ins and outs from saddling to dismounts. By the end of a week a kid will call a horse a friend.
COMMUNITY

The campfire lends itself to finding a sense of community. One night it might be singing, another might be about the mythology and poetry of the West. We teach through stories and bond through common experience.

THEATER

Every kid will experience the exhilaration of live performance. Some might even catch the theater bug, if they haven't already.

Every WindRiders camp ends with a Western Show at the Bit-o-Wyo Ranch Barn Theater. This unique stage, with the Wyoming skyline framed in the background and horse corrals so close that the horses are part of the show, has served up many a cowboy song and steak dinner. Parents are always invited back on the last day of camp to see what kind of boot stompin' show the kids have come up with over the past week or so.
Professional direction in singing, acting and dancing is provided for every kid at every camp.

Christopher Keener, the camp's theater director, has twenty-five years of experience in acting, directing, writing and producing for the stage and video. During the past several years, he has focused primarily on directing and teaching theater to kids, both at WindRiders and during the off-season. For both the budding Broadway star and those who have never sung a note, there's room to shine on the WindRiders stage.

TEAM AND LEADERSHIP EVENTS

These games and adventures can only be solved through teamwork and leadership. Whether it's finding the buried gold using a map, a compass and a series of clues; figuring out "whodunnit" in a Western style interactive mystery; or testing balance and strength in a series of physical challenges, every event will bring forth a different set of skills. Other activities include hiking, archery, canoeing, arts and crafts, roping skills, and more.

GUEST INSTRUCTORS

WindRiders is proud to bring to camp experts in areas like dance, archery, canoeing, and sculpture to bring balance and diversity to camp life.
